NYC Data Science Academy (“NYC Data Science Academy”) takes the privacy and security of our clients and their customers seriously. NYC Data Science Academy provides this Internet Privacy Policy because our students and alumni have a right to know what information we collect, how it is used, and how it is protected. This policy may be amended from time to time and was last updated on May 21st, 2018.
Information Collection and Use
Registration for NYC Data Science Academy Students
In order receive emails sent by NYC Data Science Academy you must register your interest online through our website. During registration, you are asked to give contact information such as first and last name, image, email address, mailing address and telephone number. Any credit card information supplied at the time of registration is not sent to our servers but instead it is sent directly to our credit card processor. NYC Data Science Academy collects personally identifiable information from our users during the initial signup process as well as during surveys or information refreshes. We may use this information to contact you with offers, newsletters, and special promotions if you have consented to receiving those materials, otherwise your information will be used strictly to offer you the educational materials requested.
Personal data processed by NYC Data Science Academy shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for the intended processing or legal purposes. Students have the right to request that their information be deleted, once the request has been verified the data will be deleted within 30 days.
Uses of Customer Information
Your email addresses are used only to send email that was requested. NYC Data Science Academy follows an opt-in permission-based email. NYC Data Science Academy will not send unsolicited, bulk or commercial offers or advertisements. All emails contain links on how to unsubscribe from the list. If you no longer wish to receive our communications, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the instructions included in each communication or by emailing us at <[email protected]>, please include your email address and/or cell phone number in the message along with the client you wish to unsubscribe from as well as write the word, “unsubscribe” in the subject line.
Clear Gifs
We use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, please see “Opt-out/Unsubscribe”.
Cookies
NYC Data Science Academy places a “cookie” on the browser of a user’s computer to store and sometimes track information about you. We will retain a copy of your information in accordance with law and for only so long as necessary to provide you with high quality and consistent services including marketing services and account information.
NYC Data Science Academy has put in place certain technological and procedural security functions to protect the personal information it collects, uses or transfers from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction. NYC Data Science Academy uses firewalls to help prevent outside parties from accessing our database server through the Internet, and physical access to the database server is restricted to authorized individuals.
When transferring personally identifiable information to and from third parties NYC Data Science Academy uses SSL & SFTP (Secure FTP) (which includes MD5 and SHA256 encryption), as required for Email Sender and Provider Coalition (ESPC) membership.
Information collected by our website or transferred to us from other sources will be processed in the United States.
